Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Active search is a high-speed visual search method, which detects and locates desired object in complex scenes based on color similarity. It matches a color histogram of a given reference image against parts of the input image considering different positions and sizes. Based on upper bound estimates, areas that are not likely to contain the object are not matched against the reference images. It achieves computational speed up of over 100 times compared to exhaustive searching. We show several applications of active search, such as tracking, counting, image retrieval.
