Abstract(in English) In recent years, owing to the spread of Internet, the demand for multimedia contents is increasing abruptly. Beyond the traditional multimedia like voice and video, the haptic as a newly developed type of media is turning to be a hot topic recently. Many researches have been done on the multimedia communication, research on the haptic communication an emerging area is just at the start point. On a haptic communication system test-bed we created, we have investigated the QoS demand for the haptic communication. In this paper we will discuss the information compression for the haptic communication system, and present some results from our observation.
