A Study on Weight Control Methods of an Adaptive Antenna for Downlink Transmission in a W-CDMA System

Abstract(in English) Downlink capacity in a W-CDMA system is limitted by interference due to multipath propagation. Particularly, high-bit rate users with large transmit power cause serious multiple access interference (MAI) to other users. The large MAI can be reduced by using a base station adaptive array antenna. In this paper, we propose weight control methods based on direction-of-arrival estimation. These methods can be employed also in an asymmetric channels between uplink and downlink transmission. We compare the performance of the methods by computer simulations.
