Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In mobile radio communication systems, the linear amplification with nonlinear components (LINC) method is one of the promising techniques to achieve both highly linear and power-efficiency amplifiers, which are required for low-cost and downsized base stations. The LINC technique splits a modulated signal into two ones with constant amplitudes, which are thenamplified individually by the high power-efficiency nonlinear amplifiers and combined as the output. A major drawback of the LINC is that the gain and phase imbalance between the two amplifier branches causes intolerable out-of-band spectrum. For the purpose of overcoming such a problem, this report proposes a new technique that estimates the imbalance by the Least-Squares method so as to minimize it. Computer simulations with the QPSK modulation demonstrate that this method can suppress the out-of-band spectrum sufficiently.
