Performance Evaluation of Frequency Spread Coding and Frequency Interleaving for OFDM Systems using Adaptive Co-Channel Interference Canceller

Abstract(in English) In orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) systems, a co-channel interference(CCI) canceller has been proposed to reduce CCI from other cells. When the received interference signals have nearly the same power level with the desired signal, it is difficult for the CCI canceller to cancell interferences. Thus, burst errors that could not be corrected using error correcting code occurs. In this paper, to solve this problem, we propose to apply frequency spread coding(FSC) and/or frequency interleaving(FI) to the CCI canceller for OFDM systems. Performances of the system with FSC, that with FI, and that with both FSC and FI are evaluated by computer simulation. Furthermore, the case of using FSC for the carriers that have high correlation, and the case of using FSC for the separated carriers that have low correlation are also compared. We compare the performance of the system using FSC for low correlation carriers and FI, using FSC for low correlation carriers and using FI. We show when Signal to Interference Ratio(SIR) is minus, the system using FSC for low correlation carriers and FI has the best performance and when SIR is plus, the system using only FI has the best performance.
