Random access method with open-loop transmitter power control in W-CDMA systems

Abstract(in English) In W-CDMA system, random access channel which is one of common uplink channels for the mobile stations controls its transmitter power by the open-loop power control. With the open-loop power control, the average received power of base stations is controlled a constant power, but the instantaneous received power cannot be controlled. The instantaneous received power varies dynamically according to a mobile multi-path environment and its variation depends on multi-path characteristics deeply. From this fact, it can be predicted that the optimum transmitter power varies according to the multi-path characteristics. In this paper, we propose the random access method which change the transmitter power adaptively using the measured multi-path characteristics. We evaluate the performance of this proposal method by using computer simulations and the analytical approaches.
