Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Return signals of RADAR contain target signal of ships and noise of sea clutter. We measured two ships as RADAR targets embedded in sea clutter using an X-band RADAR with a frequency of 9,380MHz and tried to detect targets. In this article, supposed that observed sea clutter do not obey any known distributions, we use non-parametric CFAR method, which is independent of the distribution of sea clutter. As a result of this, we succeeded to discriminate the targets. In order to obtain optimum threshold level, we considered image-processing method using the fractal dimension. The relationship between fractal dimension and optimum threshold level was obtained.
