A Study on Area Selected Uplink Power Control for Indoor Wireless Packet Radio Systems in Multi-Zone Environments

Abstract(in English) This paper proposes an adaptive zone selection scheme with area selected uplink transmit power control for adaptive modulation indoor wireless packet radio systems to mitigate performances unfairness due to terminal position and to achieve low message delay performances even under severe non-uniform traffic conditions. In the proposed system, based on the measurement of propagation path characteristics to each access point(AP)as well as broadcasted blocking rate(BR)information from each AP, a terminal autonomously selects an AP and modulation parameters that give the minimum transmission failure probability determined by both BR due to lack of radio resource and packet error rate due to severe channel conditions. Moreover, to enhance average access delay for terminals locating at the positions where only 1 AP is accessible, transmit power of terminals locating at plural APs accessible positions is also adaptively controlled according to encourage more terminals to access to lower traffic AP.
