Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper evaluated the performance on high rate data transmission using turbo / convolutional coding in reverse link inter-cell site diversity for W-CDMA mobile radio by laboratory experiments. CRC result calculated over selection period T_SEL and averge SIR during channel interleaving length were used as reliability information for selection combining at radio network controller(RNC)simulator. From the experimental results, the gain of inter-cell site diversity from one-cell site connection with turbo coding was relatively small compared with that with convolutional coding. This is because much larger burst error occurred for the case with turbo coding than that with convolutional coding and burst error reduces selection combining gain. It was shown that average required mobile transmit E_b / N_o for achieving the average BER of 10-6 using turbo coding for 2-cell site diversity was decreased by approximately 0.3dB compared to one-cell site connection.
