Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A lossless handover scheme was proposed under which the downlink cells are stored in the buffer memory in a switch during handover for constant bit rate transmission in mobile asynchronous transfer mode(ATM)networks. Assignment of extra bandwidth should be made for the borst transmission after handovers to flush the stored ATM cells, which, in turn, restricts normal bandwidth to be preserved for originated calls. We propose an improved bandwidth assignment method. The switch determines the allowable normal and extra bandwidths according to the number of requests submitted by mobile terminals multiplied by weighting coefficients. Computer simulations were carried out to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method. The optimum coefficients depend on the ratio of the number of handover requests per call to the number of call origination requests.
