Field Experimental Results on Forward Link Transmit Diversity in W-CDMA Mobile Radio

Abstract(in English) This paper presents the field experimental results of the forward link transmission performance with forward link transmit diversity, Space time transmit diversity (STTD) for pre-determined (PD) type and Selection transmit diversity (STD) for feedback (FB) type. The results reveal that (1) STTD can decrease the required E_b/N_0 by approximately 1-1.5 dB compared to 1-branch transmission without forward link fast transmit power control (TPC), however, it has no improvement with forward link fast TPC; (2) STD can decrease the required transmitted power by approximately 2-3 dB without TPC when antenna selection (AS) command error in reverse link is negligible, however, it has no improvement with reverse link fast TPC. From therse results, STTD is applicable to common control channel which does not apply TPC. Moreover, in order to apply STD on dedicated channel with TPC, more accurate AS command is required to decrease antenna selection error.
