Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper presents a procedure of designing an equalizer that operates in a modelled wide-band mobile communication channel. The proposed method utilizes the Conjugate Gradient Method (CGM)for computing the optimal tap coefficients of the equalizer during the training period. The normalized least Mean Square (NLMS) algorithm is adopted to refine the tap coefficients at each sample period of the data sequences. In order to further engence the reception of the data, this paper introduces a soft decision technique. In our computer simulations that encounter the signal environments of the modelled channel, the bit-error-rate (BER) performance is improved by up to a few tens times by utilizing the proposed soft decision technique.
