Performance Evaluation of 16QAM-OFDM Transmission Scheme under the Standard Model for the Multimedia Mobile Access Communication Systems

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we investigate the feasibility of the coded 16QAM-OFDM based mobile communication system for the future multimedia mobile access communication (MMAC) system by calculating the transmission performance under the some evaluation models, e. g. multipath fading model, amplifier model, phase noise model, which is discussed in the ongoing standard committee like ETSI-BRAN or ARIB-MMAC project, in order to realize more than 20Mbps data transmission within the limited bandwidth.Especially, in order to use broadband mobile terminal in the not only indoor environment but also outdoor environment, we focus on the coherent detection based system. The evaluation point is listed as follows: (1) Comparison with the other modulation scheme (2) FEC scheme, especially impact of coding rate (3) Influence of system performance for several multipath fading environment (4) Impact of phase noise and nonlinear amplifier. All the calculation is based on the Packet Error Rate. At the conclusion, we summarize the availabiliy of 16QAM-OFDM system.
