Periodic Ripple of Aperture Disribution along Slot Array

Abstract(in English) The slot array on a coaxial cylinder is a less loss antenna, which is comnidirectional in the horizontal plane and can form a shaped beam in the vertical plane and generate a circular polarization. However, there is irregularity in the aperture distribution along the cylinder axis and this irregularity introduces limitation to the beam shaping. When it is small, the irregularity appears as periodic riples in amplitude and phase distributions. It has been found that the length △ of the ripple period and the distance D between array elements hold simple integer relations such as 3D=2△. Using this result, the ripple can be explained as the radiation of the composition of a high-order wave and a fed wave, while the composition wave is generated in the coaxial waveguide and is radiated from the periodically aranged slots along the axis.
