Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a new burst coherent demodulator for microcellular.TDMA, TDD systems.The demodulator employs a -pi/4 signal phase rotator for the coherent detection of pi/4-shift DQPSK signals and a reverse-modulation type carrier recovery circuit with a carrier filter varied band-width for fast carrier acquisition.Moreover,the demodulator uses an initial clock recovery circuit that operates at the rate of 2 samples/symbol effective for low power operation and makes it possible to shorten preamble bits for initial clock recovery.Furthermore,a burst detector and an automatic frequency control (AFC) circuit,both of which are easily implemented with fully digitalized circuits,are employed.Experimental results show that the proposed coherent demodulator reduces the irreducible frame error rate by 40%,and achieve a 3dB improvement at the frame error rate of 10% compared with differential detection under the Rayleigh fading channel (fD= 4Hz and τrms=1.0μsec in a 96kbit/s experimental system) typical o f personal communication channels.
