An adaptive equalizer for FSK frequency detection

Abstract(in English) For radio communication,we often need countermeasure against frequency-selective fading.For this purpose,adaptive equalizers have been developed.However,almost all the adaptive equalization techniques,proposed so far,are designed for linear transmission system.In case of nonlinear transmission system,adaptive algorithms for linear transmission system can not be applied.In this paper,we propose an adaptive equalization method for nonlinear transmission system,i.e.,frequency modulation with limiter discriminator detection.In this method,the equalizer at I. F.band is controled by evaluating the target function which is defined as mean square error at decision sampling instants.The principle of this method is based on the fact that frequency demodulated signal takes given discrete values at the sampling instant if the equalization is succeeded.As the adaptive algorithm, we apply the Powell method,that is a general method of search for the most minimum value.We repeat the Powell method to reach to the most minimum value avoiding local minimum points.The results of the computer simulation show that proposed method is effective to frequency selective fading for the nonlinear system.
