Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper clarifies the probability distribution of ADPCM code without error bits and the error patterns in slow fading channel, and proposes Super Mute (S-mute) scheme to reduce the voice quality degradation caused by the ADPCM code with fatal errors by using the characteristics of error added ADPCM codes. Further, this paper shows the adaptive optimization of ADPCM Code suitable for the degree of burst degradation by applying with channel quality estimation scheme, ADPCM Code Detection (ACD) scheme. As a result, when the proposed scheme is employed, the ADPCM Code errors more than 4 and 7 are reduced by 43% and 12%, respectively, and MOS improvement of 0.6 point compared with the conventional muting scheme.
