A Study on QPSK Demodulator for Satellite Receiver

Abstract(in English) For satellite communication applications, low cost QPSK demodulator handling tens of Mbps data is required. In order to realize it, we developed a new carrier recovery and clock recovery schemes. For carrier recovery, derogating coefficients are adjusted using elementary operations of complex number instead of trigonometric function operations, to reduce hardware scale. For clock recovery, sampling timing errors are detected calculating correlation of sampled values and symbol values at the symbol-rate, to reduce operating frequency. We developed the LSI realizing the above schemes, which has a small size and low power consumption and achieves good BER performance (0.3-0.5dB degradation).
