Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The Pager market is showing rapid growth. Also, the need for longer message that people want to send/receive is increasing. To accommodate these demands, the FLEX-TD radio paging system was developed and standardized in 1995 in Japan. It offers high-capacity using high-speed signal transmission and has more enhanced services such as longer message transmission. In addition, it employs time diversity (TD) reception to improve transmission performance and to minimize the number of base stations necessary to duplicate the service area of a conventional low-speed system. This paper describes laboratory experiment results which show that the TD reception scheme is quite effective in improving PER (page error rate) and reducing the required CNR in the FLEX-TD radio paging system.
