A New Concatenated FEC Scheme for Wireless ATM Systems

Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a new concatenated FEC (forward error correction) scheme aiming at the application to high-speed wireless ATM systems. The proposed scheme combines parallel encoding FEC with nonredundant error correction for differentially detected QPSK (quadrature phase shift keying) signals. To improve FEC performance degradation due to the double symbol errors without inter-leaving, the proposed scheme employs I and Q channel serial to parallel conversion in the transmission side and parallel to serial conversion in the receiving side. The computer simulation results show the proposed scheme employing BCH code (one bit correction) obtains a required Eb/No improvement of 1.2dB at a Pe (probability of error) of 10^<-5> compared to that with 2 by 2 bit inter-leaving for I and Q channels.
