Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Variable-rate data transmission schemes suitable for coherent direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) mobile radio are described. Two data rate detection schemes are considered: blind detection and rate indicator (RI) assisted detection. At the transmitter, the variable-rate user data to be transmitted is block-encoded for cyclic redundancy check (CRC) and then convolutionally encoded. Blind detection is incorporated into the process of Viterbi decoding of the convolutional-coded data. For RI assisted detection, the transmitted data is recovered based on received RI. The CRC is used in both rate detection schemes to find whether the recovered user data is correct or not. The average frame error rate (FER) and average false detection rate (FDR) of the two rate detection schemes are evaluated by computer simulations under multipath Rayleigh fading environments and the results are compared.
