High Bit Rate Data Transmission using Multicarrier 16QAM Modulation

Abstract(in English) 96-multicarrier 16QAM transmitter and diversity receiver for 3.072 Mbps data transmission are described. Pilot symbol aided (PSA) coherent detection is applied. A laboratory experiment demonstrates that an irrducible bit error rate (BER) of 10<-3> can be achieved at the rms delay spread τrms=6.3μs under frequency selective Rayleigh fading when two-branch maximal-ratio combining (MRC) diversity is used. It is also experimrntally demonstrated that the cancatinating coding using convolutional coding and RS coding is effective for impruving the BER Performance against frequency selective fading.
