Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper presents design method on a real-time simulator with an emphasis on emerging application in the digital terrestrial television broadcasting systems. The real-time simulator provides design engineers with realistic data on oorrectness and performance in the field testing thus drastically reducing the likelihood of an expensive redesign of the target system. The simulation models which are based on draft proposal of Association of Radio Industries and Businesses (ARIB) are built. Each processing segment is compiled and downloaded to DSP chips to measure execution time and memory usage. The number of DSP chips to realize real-time simulation is estimated. Hierarchical parallelism is utilized to design the hardware architecture. Finally, the prototypes are built to evaluate the performance.
