Parallel Plate Slot Array fed by Single-Layer Waveguide Using a Metal-Grounded Dielectric Substrate

Abstract(in English) We fabricate a 40GHz-band model of a parallel plate slot array fed by single-layer waveguide using a metal-grounded dielectric substrate. Waveguides are composed in the substrate by making many through-holes and metalizing them. This results in simple fabrication of the antenna. We confirm by experiments that all the coupling windows of the feed waveguide are excited in equal amplitude and phase at the design frequency. The frequency characteristic of the feed waveguide is evaluated by measuring near-field distributions along it and calculating the gain. 1dB-down bandwidth of 3% is obtained. The first model antenna shed by 138mm×130mm has 30.6dBi gain and 29% efficicency at 40.0GHz.
