Multicast Routing in Hierarchical ATM Network

Abstract(in English) With a realization of B-ISDN, broadcast services will occupy a large part of the B-ISDN traffic, and network resources must be saved using efficient routing theory. Generally, routing is not needed in the hierarchical network. However, routing is necessary in ATM network. Because it has many Virtual Paths and it logically becomes non-hierarchical. In this paper, dynamic routing is applied to the ATM network which is phisically hierarchical. The result shows that it is enough to use only static routing and unnecessary to use dynamic routing which requires complex controls, since the influence of the physically hierarchical network comes out strongly.
