Enterprise ATM network design system having comprehensible traffic input scheme

Abstract(in English) We developed a private network design system, NICE97 (Network Integration Consultation Environment), which objects are ATM networks. This system calculates quality and cost from the input data, and designs the minimum cost leased-line network that is satisfied with quality requirements. In this system, we propose new scheme for inputting ATM traffic data, PCR (Peak Cell Rate) and required QoS (delay time and cell loss ratio), which are just the parameters that the network integraters can grasp at the present time. The network integraters input only end nodes' locations and using application of each VCC, then the necessary values to design their networks are selected from the application list, by setting the standard parameter values of using applications in advance. This paper describes the design algorithm of this system and new scheme to input ATM traffic data. And the numerical evaluations show that this system can design the networks with permitted accuracy for a short time.
