Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper discusses the management of the resources for a mobile communication system consisting solely of microcells, using distributed microswitches. The system secures the reservation of several cells ahead, in order to cope with the shortened time high-speed terminals will stay in each microcell. A logical macrocell consisting of resources from several microcells, the so-called reservation area changes along with the movement of its mobile terminal. When a lack of resources occur, which connection to sacrifice is depending on the type of transmission and its priority. We are further suggesting a system that recovers the lost connections as soon as new resources occur. If the mobiles using a macrocell are not solely high-speed terminals, the Erlang B equation shows that some of the resources might be released and used for low-speed terminals, with a considerable increase in capacity.
