Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper studies performances of DS/CDMA cellular system that includes both circuit switching and packet switching modes to support multimedia services. To guarantee high throughput performance of the packet transmission mode as well as high capacity of the circuit switching mode, the proposed packet switching system employs only an open-loop power control with a certain power margin because closed-loop power control cannot be applied to the short message transmission as the packet transmission. Computer simulation confirms that 5 dB margin is optimum to simultaneously achieve high throughput packet transmission and high capacity circuit switching transmission.
