A Study on the Inter-Vehicle Communication Network for Reducing the Influence of the Shadowing Problem on Roadside to Vehicle Communication Systems

Abstract(in English) Advanced roadside to vehicle communication systems with many roadside stations equipped continuously are studied is ITS. When another vehicle exists on line -of-site(LOS) between a roadside station and a vehicle, the shadowing problem is happened. Using inter-vehicle communication network is one of the most effective schemes to solve this problem. This paper we investigate the performance of a roadside to vehicle communication system against the shadowing problem, which is assisted by inter-vehicle communication network applied to the ad-hoc routing protocol DSDV(Destination Sequenced Distance Vector Routing). That performance is independent of the modulation scheme of the communication system. As a result, it is shown that the performance of this system has improved about 20% higher on the packet error rate than that of the conventional system and this system is effective method in shadowing environment.
