Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Two digital watermarking schemes for gray-scale still images based on the discrete Fourier transform are discussed in this paper. By analyzing characteristics of the JPEG image compression scheme, we first develop a simple scheme for embedding a digital watermark and an algorithm for verifying the embedded digital watermark. It is shown, however, that the simple scheme cannot have many variations of digital watermarks if we consider attacks making the embedded digital watermark unverifiable. In order to increase the variations, we propose another digital watermarking scheme that makes use of the uniformity of arguments of the discrete Fourier transformation of the original image. It turns out that the new scheme not only has more variations of digital watermarks but also robust against the same attacks.
