Abstract(in English) This paper proposes and investigates a method of joint decoding for combined system between 2-Dimensional Partial Response (2-D PR) system and Convolutional Code for the purpose of high density magnetic recording. Since both 2-D PR system and Convolutional Code can be represented with trellis diagrams, decoding performance can be improved by joint decoding with their overall trellis diagram that is 2-D Viterbi decoding. Moreover, a method of 2-D Viterbi decoding which can achieve low amount of calculation is also investigated.
