Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The encryption algorithm E2 is a block cipher proposed by NTT as a candidate of Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). The Higher Order Differential Attack is the attacking method which applies the higher order differentials to the nonlinear function in the block cipher. In this paper, we study on the strength of 5-round E2 without IT and FT functions against the attack. As a result, attacking equations with 1st order differential are derived. For this equaiton we estimate that necessary chosen plain text pairs are 2^<24>, and the cpu-times for the attack is 22^<72> F-function operation.
