Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Modular exponentiation is mainly used to implement RSA and DH schemes having the functions of key distribution and authentication.Modular exponentiation is computed by combining modular multiplications. This paper develops new multiplier conversion and quotient modification techniques to realize a hardware-oriented modular-multiplication method that can be applied to arbitrary higher radix without intermediate compensation. The method is used to design a modular-exponentiation LSI that has relatively low clock frequency. This LSI,which has 14 Kgates and is connected to external RAM,can calculate 512-bit modular exponent within 0.Is at 14.6MHz clock rate.
