Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In order to improve the quality of moving images on Liquid Crystal Displays, reduction of their response time is highly desired. "Overdrive method" that reduces the response time by changing the driving voltages at normal refresh timings is described here. At first, problems related to conventional "response time with relative precision at 90%" and insufficiency of "charge compensational overdrive" that simply cancels cumulative response and problems on methods using brightness tables are explained. Then based on analysis of the transient behavior of TN-mode liquid crystal, a configuration of recursive system with capacitance prediction is introduced as the appropriate overdrive circuit.
