Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | The effect of overdrive addressing on the optical response of a nematic liquid crystal device was assessed both theoretically and experimentally, where a comprehensive calculation method that deals with hydrodynamic flow and multiplexing addressing scheme, and an experimental setup for measuring the response time of a liquid crystal device under emulated multiplexing addressing were introduced. When optimized suitably, the overdrive method brought the response times between the gray levels below the frame period. Experimental results on the transient optical response were in excellent agreement with the simulated responses, where the hydrodynamic flow and multiplexing addressing showed non-negligible effects on director reorientation. |
