Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In recent years, Immersive Projection Technology (IPT), which can offer users a visual immersive sense by surrounding them with large-sized 3D displays, has attracted considerable attention in the Virtual Reality field. In this paper, two types of IPT are introduced:One is the domed visual display with a large semi-spherical screen for cooperatively designing an urban enviroment, which was developed in the MITI's Human Media Project (in fiscal 1996-2000). The other is the surrounding visual display which consists of 9 plane screens for tele-existence control of a humanoid robot, which was developed in the MITI's Humanoid Robotics Project (in fiscal 1998-2002).
