Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Reflective liquid crystal display is suitable for portable devices because the power consumption is lower by not using a backlight. It is recognized that the key for the better quality display are the reflectivity and the contrast ratio. Guest-host type liquid crystal display with quarter-lambda plate(QWP)is expected to have high contrast and reflectivity. We fabricated a quarter lambda plate using several photo polymerizable liquid crystal monomers and evaluated their optical performances.
