Abstract(in English) In color CRT electron gun manufacturing, the part tolerance or assembling misalignment will cause astigmatism, halo and other performance problems in the gun. In order to improve the astigmatism of the common lens type of color E-gun, a fast speed automated categorizing machine(ACM)has been developed. This ACM can measure and sort out the depth of the main lens grids very quickly and accurately. By utilizing these sorted groups of parts, a best group pair matching of our G5 and G6 grids can be made based on our computer modeling study and previous test results. The accuracy of the ACM is 3μm and the speed is under 3 seconds per piece. We have used the ACM in production line about 6 months and obtained a good focus astigmatism improvement in the tube production.
