Abstract(in English) | A blue emitting CaAl_2O_4:Eu^<2+>(CA:Eu^<2+>)phosphor was examined for PDP application. To improve the luminescent intensity the optimization of Eu concentration in CA was examined. Test PDP panels using synthesized CA:Eu^<2+> and commercial BaMgAl_<10>O_<17>:Eu^<2+>(BAM:Eu^<2+>)were fabricated by conventional process and their luminescent and driving properties were characterized. CA:Eu^<2+> with 2 mol% optimized Eu concentration shows 60 % PL peak intensity of BAM:Eu^<2+> under 147 nm excitation. The luminance of CA:Eu^<2+> test panel is 41 % of that of BAM:Eu^<2+>. This panel shows the poor luminance maintenance during the panel operation compared with BAM:Eu^<2+> panel and the emission intensity after 300 hours driving is decreased to 40 % of initial intensity. |
