Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have developed a new automatic reflected-light reducing system using polarization sensors and a liquid crystal polarizing filter. The system automatically reduces reflected light by driving the liquid crystal polarizing filter according to the polarization direction of incident light which is detected by the polarization sensors. In experiments with polarized incident light, the system is operational if the ratio of polarized light intensity to the total light intensity is over 25%. It is confirmed that the liquid crystal polarizing filter driven with the polarization sensors is useful for image capturing. However, the sensors detect incident light out of the viewing angle of the camera lens. It is found for zooming that polarization sensors need to have the same angle as the camera lens.
