Influence of Control Electrode Configuration on Ion Flow Control

Abstract(in English) The need to output digital images on paper is increasing as the use of networks becomes popular. An ion-flow method is suitable for printing high-quality images because it can generate multi-scale dots. However, because of the methhod's low ion efficiency, it is difficult to attain fast print speed. Moreover the quality of the images becomes relatively low if the so-called closstalk of ions happened. In this study, the influence of diameter of aperture on ion-flow controllability is investigated. It is shown that ion efficiency can be optimized at a diameter 1.5-2.0 times as a dot zize. Also, the effect of a multiple aperture matrix on image quality is examined and it is shown that a stagger matrix provides the highest image quality.
