Abstract(in English) | Reflective color LCDs with high-resolution picture are key devices for highly functional portable information terminals. In this paper, we numerically analyzed the electro-optical properties of new achromatic reflective LCDs using a single-polarizer DSTN-LCD and FDSTN-LCD with a quarter-wave plate. We found that the display modes exhibit a high contrast ratio of infinity in theory and a high luminous reflectance of 48%, independent of the duty ratio. |
