Abstract(in English) As a light source of backlight unit for liquid crystal monitor, Cold cathode fluorescent lamp is used. Currently, a sidelight type sized approx, 15 inches, is mainly adopted e.g., for lap top computer. However, in the future, it is expected that large sized high luminance liquid crystal monitors will be demanded, instead of CRT, in correspondence with further enlargement of liquid crystal monitor size. This time, we would like to report development of Cold cathode fluorescent lamp for large sized liquid crystal monitors targeting for high luminance by lengthening of life supposing usage in the high electric current area and improvement of lighting efficiency, and in addition, extending lamp length.
