Eu^<2+> doped BaAl_2S_4 Blue Emitting Thin-Film EL Devices

Abstract(in English) Blue emitting thin-film electroluminescence(TFEL)devices which have been satisfied with the requirement for full color TFEL displays were obtained. Eu^<2+> doped BaAl_2S_4 thin films were used for Emission layer. BaAl_2S_4 : Eu thin-films were prepared by the two targets pulse-electron-beam evaporation to be suitable for the deposition of multinary compounds which have been difficult to obtain stoichiometoric thin-films. The EL spectrum had a peak around 470nm. The Commission Interantionale del'Eclairage(CIE)color coordinates were x=0.12 and y=0.10. The luminance under the 50Hz pulse voltage was 65cd / m^2.
