A Digital Image Sensor with Pixel-Level ADC

Abstract(in English) We fabricated an 8-bit full digital image sensor in which each pixel consists of a photodiode (PD), a 1-bit A/D converter, an 8 bit pulse counter and signal processing (knee control) circuit. The device operates by means of a standard TV system and 2-D real time images are obtained. The dynamic range of 1-bit A/D converter was 110 dB when the operating voltage was 1.3 V and we confirmed that the knee control operates effectively.
