Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Development of novel ferroelectric image-recording devices with a memory effect was outlined. In an early stage of the development, recording mechanism was based on a difference in charge acceptance between the poled and unpoled areas. But a mechanistic study on the recording process led to the construction of a new system based on pyroelectricity. Further investingation on the effect of electric field and heating on dipole orientation revealed the feasibility of"pyroelectric imaging",which utilized area-selective polarization revesal and made possible the permanently stable, and yet erasable electrostatic images.
