Improvement of Luminous Efficiency in AC-PDP by Controlling Surface Discharge Area

Abstract(in English) The relationship between the luminous efficiency and the location of the bus electrodes on the transparent electrodes was investigated with a view to optimizing the geometric structure of AC-PDPs. As a result, it was found that the bus electrodes should be located at the far side from the discharge gap. Furthermore, the new structure in which the bus electrodes was separated from the transparent electrodes in order to control surface discharge area was proposed. As a result, more than a 22% higher efficiency is obtained in this new structure when compared with the conventional structure.
