Excited atoms density measurements in a discharge cell of AC PDP by using microscopic-spectroscopy

Abstract(in English) Xe metastable atom densities in an AC PDP cell are measured in the sustain mode by laser spectro-microscopy. It has been found that : (1) The peak density at the cathode side is nearly equal to the density at the anode side, (2) The density at the center is about 1/3 of the value at the cathode side, (3) The rise time of the density is 0.2μs with a delay of about 0.2~0.3μs. The decay time is 3μs at cathode side, and 1.8μs at anode side, respectively, which agree with an estimated value of 3.1μs, (4) In the sustain mode AC PDP operates with pulse memory function like as DC PDP.
