Abstract(in English) The positive column observed in glow discharge is an effective discharge structure for improving the luminous efficiency of the PDP. In order to reduce the discharge voltage of the positive column DC discharge cell, we investigated the discharge characteristics using a Y_2O_3 cathode made by EB deposition on the thin-film Al cathode. The discharge voltage was 100V lower than that of the thick-film Al cathode. The cell structure was used for a color DC PDP with a reflective-type phosphor screen, and the panel had a luminous efficiency of 0.8lm/w.
