Mn-Activated Ga_2O_3-GeO_2 System Multicomponent Oxide Phosphors for Thin-Film Electroluminescent Device

Abstract(in English) New multicomponent oxide phosphors composed of Ga_2O_3-GeO_2 : Mn and GeO_2 : Mn have been demonstrated as the emitting layer for thin-film electroluminescent(TFEL)devices using a thick BaTiO_3 ceramic sheet insulator. An EL emission was always observed in devices using either an as-deposited or postannealed thin-film emitting layer prepared with all conmpositions. A luminance of 30 cd/m^2 was obtained in an orange-emitting TFEL device with an as-deposited amorphous(Ga_2O_3-GeO_2) : Mn thin-film emitting layer prepared with a GeO_2 content of 66 mol%. High luminances of 135 and 22 cd/m^2 were obtained in a device using amorphous (Ga_2O_3-GeO_2) : Mn thin-film postannealed at 500℃ in air and prepared with a GeO_2 content of 66 mol%, when driven at 1 kHz and 60 Hz, respectively.
